The standard VW bug engine is incredibly small. I wish I snapped a picture of it all stripped down. Once you peel away all the engine tin, there's not a lot there.

Granted, I didn't take the engine all the way to pistons and a crank, but I did enough to learn a thing or two about a 1600cc VW. At right is a cleaned and checked engine with a new exhaust I'm hoping will work out. Notice the heater boxes have been removed...




here's the fan inlet on the shroud. This little screen should
keep most of the debris out of the inlet .


Here's the engine all wired up, with intake and exhausts
snugged up as well. I also removed and welded over the air outlets for the heater boxes.
